The Slovak-Indian Yoga Vedanta Society, the oldest non-profit organization in Slovakia, was founded in December 1989 and registered with the Ministry of the Interior in March 1990 (under registration number NVVS/2-184/1990); on May 13, 1997, it was transformed into the Civic Association "Society of Slovak-Indian Friendship" (SSIP). Its founder is PhDr. Anna Galovičová, who remains the society's chairperson to this day
